Official goodbye!

Friends and family! I leave in 3 days!! AHH! I am very excited! I have had a wonderful time with all of my friends and family over this last month. It has flown by, but I am ready and I know that I am supposed to make this move to Guatemala. I am leaving tonight (Friday) to go to the lake with mom, dad, Beau and Hilary until later on Sunday. My flight leaves Monday at 10:30 so please be praying for safe travel and that all of my luggage will arrive without any problems. Once I get to the city, my school will be at the airport to pick me up and take me to my apartment. I will then have a bit to unpack and the adventure will begin. I will be helping with Global Soccer Ministries during my first two weeks. They have a small team working in the city and I will be translating. I will be using the evenings to get settled and explore. From July 17th to August 7th I will have overlapping visitors (Emily and Jessa- I am so EXCITED for yall to come). We are going to see different places, go to a wedding, spend a week at language school, and learn how to salsa dance!! Then pre-planning begins on August 8th. I will do my best to let you know that I have arrived via the blog and also keep you updated on my contact information. Thank you for all of the prayers that have gotten me this far on the adventure and please continue to lift me up as you feel led!
Dios te bendiga!

My address in Guatemala. I can receive letters, but not packages! PLEASE WRITE!

Holdin' on for dear life!

Lake Times are Great Times

The season of GOODBYES are now upon me. I leave next Monday, July 2nd on the jet plane and so I have officially started the final adios process. Luckily my parents were gracious enough to host a picnic up at Lake Lanier on Saturday and then my Bible Study at WFBC had a potluck the next day (I will post those pictures later!). It has been a wonderful time of getting all of those that I know and love together for a final DAY O'FUN! The lake was fantastic. We grilled out hamburgers and hot dogs. The water was a perfect temperature and it was just high enough to still jump off and not break your ankle (Trish, are you okay??). Brother Beau captained the boat and flung us all around on the tube! It was pretty choppy and he does not drive slowly, so as you can see from the pictures, it was a bit rough out there!!

Look at how fearful I look compared to the other riders!

Cruisin with the Moms

As I said previously, I was out of commission for a bit because I was going on vacation. I went on a cruise with my mom, my roommate Jenny and her mom. We had a wonderful time and the weather was good for the most part. I left directly from school on May 31st and drove to Fernandina where I spent the next day on the sand and getting a pedicure. It was incredible! Here are our toes. Which ones are mine?? We called this trip "The Tale of the Traveling Toes" because we all had such a similar color on our feet. Many of our pictures had our feet, but I will spare you these pictures and show you some of our other sites.

Our first day of sea consisted of relaxing on the deck, playing in the slot machine tournament (where mom made it to the final round where unfortunately she got last place), eating 3 incredible meals and seeing the first of our nightly shows in the Amber Palace. We also arrived back at our room to find a towel animal. We had our first formal night where we must dress up for dinner, so here is a cute picture of all of us dressed in our finest!

Our first day off of the boat was spent in Cozumel, Mexico. Our excursion here was to go kayaking through the mangroves and then to relax on the beach. It was AMAZING. The beach was said to be the spot where the Corona commercials were filmed. The picture is of Jenny relaxing with her Corona in the hammocks that were on the island. After our hour long kayaking "experience" we ate a buffet lunch (yes more food) and then relaxed in the crystal clear water. There were some beach games that the staff of the island had organized, but we opted for the peaceful relaxation of the ocean. This excursion was very quick and I probably could have spent another 2 hours on the island, but there were still more adventures to come.

This picture is from Belize. We were able to snorkel the Barrier Reef and then relax at Bannister Cay for the afternoon. The weather was great and I love to snorkel so this was fun! As you can see the reef is VERY large. It had many beautiful fish and the biggest brain coral that I have ever seen.

Costa Maya was our next stop, but I am not posting pictures because the weather was so terrible. We did go to a beach but we had to stay under shelter because of the rain.

This next day was our final day at sea. Jenny, mom and Barb had all gotten a lot of sun on the previous days so they spent the day in the shade. I, on the other hand, was willing to lay in the sun for awhile. It was nice to just relax on the boat again. That night was the midnight buffet. As if you had not eaten enough all day long, they create a buffet that opens at midnight. As many of you know, I love my sleep, so it was a stretch for me to stay up. Luckily there was a showing to go and take pictures starting at 11 p.m. so we went and danced at the Disco for awhile and then we were off to take pictures. This picture on the right is all made out of food. It was incredible and totally worth staying up past my bedtime to see.

This is me standing in front of the aquarium at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau on our final full day. We spent the morning of this day at the resort. I did not really know what it was going to be like, but I am so glad that we visited (although we could not go out of the lobby and casino). We then got caught in a torrential rain storm on the water taxi traveling back to the boat. It was terrible!! But the Atlantis was beautiful and after walking back to the boat (in the POURING rain) we were given warm towels to dry off.

Well then it was time to say goodbye. We made it back to Port Canaveral from Nassau the next morning. I am so glad we went on this trip. I was able to relax and not worry at all about moving. There was not a thing I could do about anything at home while on the boat and that was just what I needed. The final picture is how we all felt at our dinner on the last night. Jenny and I used to make this "chubby" face when we were little. So in honor of how we were feeling (you can eat ALL day long), we made the "chubby" face again!
